About this project
I photograph gravestones as a volunteer for
findagrave.com. The Mt Sinai Cemetery in Philadelphia is one I photograph, and I find it to be difficult to locate graves. The first problem is that the online database at the cemetery's website has hundreds of errors. The second problem is that the cemetery itself does not have geographical markers to help locate a lot once one knows the lot number.
I made this project to circumvent those two problems. All told, this took about 40 hours. It involved:
- Downloading the cemetery database
- Correcting hundreds of errors in the database
- Making a new search page for the corrected data
- Creating a customized google map that can be used to locate a plot by number
I can be contacted through
